Orientation

Orientation Day

Don’t panic. We’ve got your back.

If you’re an incoming freshman or change of campus student coming to University Park in the College of Engineering, we are here for you. We provide different events prior to the start of classes to get to know your mentors, fellow classmates, and Penn State. We’re sure they’ll be some self-discovery along the way too.

Dean’s Welcome Watch Party

EON 2023 will get kick off with your fellow mentees to watch the Dean’s Welcome LIVE together at Eisenhower Auditorium! Then you will have a chance to snack, discuss any questions you may have, and compete head-to-head in a design competition!

Snack and Chat

Your group will be assigned to a classroom where your mentor will take you for some ice breakers, snacks, and hopefully lots of discussion on classes, student life, and so much more.

Design Competition

As fellow mentees you will split up onto groups of 3 or 4 to complete in a head to head design competition. This year we will be building the classic spaghetti towers and those with the highest tower at time will be the winners. Those with the highest tower on each floor will receive a creamery gift card.

Campus Tour

You will get to tour campus with your mentor and fellow mentees! Feel free to bring along your course schedule and tell your mentors what rooms you want to find/see. It is their job to help you be best prepared for the first day of classes so the more details on what your first day will look like, the better they can tailor the campus tour to you!

Learning Factory Tour

You will have the opportunity to have a guided tour of the Learning Factory! Student volunteers and staff will be on-hand to show students different opportunities available at the Learning Factory. Tours will be optional and start promptly after EON.

Engineering Activities Fair

There are a lot of clubs at Penn State. There are a lot of clubs for engineers. There are a lot of clubs for you to check out. How convenient they will all be here for you. We’ll bring together many popular clubs and student organizations in the Engineering Design and Innovation Hub!
